Jeremy K. Rush, MD FAAP is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon and is the only orthopedic surgeon in the San Antonio area who is dual-fellowship trained in pediatric orthopedic surgery and orthopedic sports medicine.
His clinical practice includes sports medicine and arthroscopic surgery of the knee, shoulder, elbow, and ankle, with a focus on complex knee surgery, patellar instability, and shoulder instability. He also specializes in the treatment of fractures and other acute and chronic injuries in the young athlete.
After earning a BA in Biology from Texas A&M University and an MD from the Texas A&M University System College of Medicine with honors and Alpha Omega Alpha distinction, Dr. Rush completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Brooke Army Medical Center. He further honed his skills through a pediatric orthopedic fellowship at the Campbell Clinic / University of Tennessee and an Orthopedic Sports Medicine Fellowship at the University of Virginia. There, he provided care for collegiate athletes, including those from the 2019 Men’s Basketball and Lacrosse National Championship Teams at the University of Virginia and James Madison University.
Following his initial training, Dr. Rush served as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States Army. During his 12-years on active duty, he served as Chief of Pediatric Orthopaedics at Brooke Army Medical Center. He deployed twice, once with the 14th Combat Support Hospital to Camp Bastion, Afghanistan and a second time with the 86th Combat Support Hospital to Camp Arifjan, Kuwait and Baghdad, Iraq. Additionally, he served as mission commander for a Pediatric Orthopedic Humanitarian Mission to Tegucigalpa, Honduras. He is a recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and the Meritorious Service Medal, among other commendations.
He is currently a team physician for the San Antonio Spurs and San Antonio FC, in addition to multiple local high schools and soccer clubs. He also currently serves a Team Physician for US Soccer and has travelled overseas providing medical care for the U16 and U17 national teams.
An active contributor to his field, Dr. Rush has delivered numerous lectures and published extensively on pediatric orthopedic surgery and sports medicine. He is a fellow of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and the American Academy of Pediatrics, with active roles in major orthopedic and sports medicine societies.
Residing in San Antonio with his family and enjoying hobbies like fly-fishing and CrossFit, Dr. Rush brings a personal understanding to treating young athletes, emphasizing injury treatment and prevention to ensure their return to play and overall well-being.
